¡Hola! This worksheet is aimed at helping you put your reading comprehension skill into practice by reading about people and their pets in Spanish in three different short texts. We hope you find this material useful to get some ideas on how to talk about your own pets (mascotas) with your friends or classmates.
Directions:
Students work individually or in pairs to solve the exercises on this worksheet. They can solve it on the printed version or online in this page.
Students should first take a few minutes to read all the passages quickly enough to get a general idea of their content. Once they do, they should read each of the short readings again, and answer the five questions listed on the chart about each person and their pets in Spanish. They will find out which pet people like the most, why and what they represent in their lives too. Students can write some of this information literally or paraphrase so that the answers they give fit in the spaces. As an in-class activity, students could also make a short presentation about the pets they have had, how long they’ve had them, what inspired them to choose their pet and what they think these animals need and represent in their lives.
