¡Hola! Thanks for joining us. This time, we will learn more about the vocabulary for things in the bookstore in Spanish, the different prepositions of place and some basic structures through sample sentences. You will be able to practice with two recordings plus interactive quizzes. Let’s start… 

Vocabulary in Context: Finding things in the bookstore in Spanish

First, please read and listen to the following sentences and questions using part of the vocabulary for classroom objects and prepositions of place that you will hear later in both listening activities. Make sure to analyze their meaning so that you have no difficulties later to solve the interactive quizzes.

¿Qué es esto? – Es un borrador para lápices de grafito.
What is this? – It is an eraser for pencils.
¿Qué es eso? – Es un marcador para pizarra. También tenemos marcadores permanentes.
What is that? – It is a marker for whiteboard. We also have permanent markers.
¿Dónde están los cuadernos? – Los cuadernos están en el último estante, a la derecha.
Where are the notebooks? – The notebooks are on the last shelf, on the right.
Buenos días. Estoy buscando algunos materiales para la escuela.
Good Morning. I am looking for some materials for school.
¿Tiene tarjetas de navidad? – Si, están sobre ese estante.
Do you have Christmas cards? – Yes, they are on that shelf.
¿Dónde está la sección de libros? – Está ahí, a la derecha

Conversación No. 1

  • Vendedor: Buenos días ¿Cómo puedo ayudarle?
  • Cliente: Estoy buscando algunos materiales para un proyecto.
  • Vendedor: ¿Qué materiales está buscando?
  • Cliente: Necesito un par de tijeras, hojas de colores, pegamento blanco y marcadores también.
  • Vendedor: Está bien. Todos esos materiales están en la sección escolar, al fondo a la derecha.
  • Cliente: Muchas gracias. ¿Tienen escarche y lápices también?
  • Vendedor: Claro que si. Todo está en esa sección.

Conversación No. 2

  • Vendedor: Pase adelante por favor. ¿En qué podemos servirle?
  • Cliente: Gracias. Si, estoy buscando un regalo sencillo para un amigo.
  • Vendedor: Bien, tenemos una gran variedad de libros, tarjetas de felicitación y adornos.
  • Cliente: ¿Dónde están los libros?
  • Vendedor: Están sobre las mesas a la izquierda.
  • Cliente: Voy a revisar los libros y luego las tarjetas.
  • Vendedor: Está bien. También podemos empacar su regalo cuando termine.
  • Cliente: Me parece muy bien. Gracias.

  • Vendedor: Buenos días ¿Cómo podemos ayudarle?
  • Cliente: Buenos días. Necesito comprar algunos materiales para proyectos escolares.
  • Vendedor: Estoy segura que tenemos lo que usted necesita. ¿Qué está buscando exactamente?
  • Cliente: Primero, necesito algunas cosas para dar clases como un par de marcadores para pizarra, tres marcadores permanentes, un borrador, hojitas adhesivas y algunos lapiceros.
  • Vendedor: Está bien. Tenemos de dos tipos de marcadores, así que usted puede elegir. También, hay varios tipos de lapiceros. Esos que están detrás son de mejor calidad.
  • Cliente: Está bien…umm… llevaré estos marcadores y estos lápices entonces.
  • Vendedor: No hay problema. ¿Necesita algo más?
  • Cliente: Si, necesito otras cosas para un proyecto de mis estudiantes… Llevaré una docena de hojas de colores, una caja de lápices de grafito, pegamento y algunos de estos adornos hechos de foami. ¿Qué es esto junto a la cinta adhesiva?
  • Vendedor: Es pintura acrílica, solo que la presentación es distinta. No tenemos de la pintura común.
  • Cliente: Ya veo. Por cierto, ¿Dónde está la sección de libros? Quiero comprar uno regalarlo, un libro de lectura clásica quizás.
  • Vendedor: Los libros están sobre la mesa al final de este pasillo. Usted puede verlos y elegir el libro que le guste mientras yo pongo sus materiales dentro de una caja.
  • Cliente: Gracias. Voy a ver los libros entonces y luego regreso a cancelar todo.
  • Vendedor: Claro, tómese el tiempo que necesite.
